Privacy Policy
Zeus Electrical Code
Effective: August 30, 2026
Our commitment to you
Apexers Inc. ("Apexers", "we", "us", "our") operates Zeus Electrical Code ("Zeus", "the app"), a paid professional tool for electricians. We take the privacy of the tradespeople who rely on Zeus seriously: your work records are yours, we do not sell personal information, and we do not run advertising. This policy explains — in plain language, not law-firm jargon — what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who sees it, how we protect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. It is written so you can read it on a job site without a lawyer. We answer every privacy request in writing, normally within 30 days.

1. Scope of This Policy
This policy covers the Zeus Electrical Code iOS app, the Zeus services that run behind it, and the account you create with us. Zeus is operated by Apexers Inc., 1153 Pioneer Rd, Burlington, Ontario, L7M 1K5, Canada. We are the organization responsible for the personal information described in this policy — what Canadian privacy law calls the "organization" and, in Quebec, the "person having the function of privacy officer."
This policy does not cover Apple's App Store and payment systems (Apple explains those in Apple's own Privacy Policy), or other companies' websites we may link to.
If you have questions, want to exercise your rights, or wish to complain, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@tradesmasters.ca or by mail at the address above.
2. Plain-Language Summary
- You create an account with an email and password (or Apple or Google sign-in). We use it to keep your work records safe and to attach your subscription to you rather than to one phone.
- Your saved work — log book entries, forms, reports, photos — is stored on our servers so it follows you between devices and survives a lost phone.
- We never see your payment card details. Apple processes all payments; we receive only the subscription status.
- We do not sell personal information. We show no advertising and embed no advertising trackers.
- Consultations and photo part-identification use artificial intelligence. Your question text and photos are sent to an AI service provider to generate an answer.
- Everything is deleted when you delete your account, except billing records we must keep for tax reasons and short-lived security logs.
- You can ask us what we hold, correct it, or delete it — see Section 12.
3. The Laws That Apply
We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, which applies to Zeus across Canada. Where a province has privacy legislation we treat as substantially similar — Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), and the private-sector privacy acts of British Columbia and Alberta — we meet those standards too, and residents of those provinces have the rights described in Section 12.
Zeus is not a health application and does not serve public institutions, so Ontario's PHIPA and FIPPA do not apply to it. If PIPEDA and a provincial act give you overlapping protections, we honour whichever is stronger.
4. Age Requirement
Zeus is a paid professional tool, and no account can be created without a subscription eventually attached to it. You must be at least the age of majority in your province or territory to create an account. The app checks this at sign-up and refuses accounts that fall short. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age; if we ever learn we have, we delete it. Because no minors' accounts can exist, there is no "children's data" section to opt out of — the door is simply closed.
5. Personal Information We Collect
We collect only what Zeus needs to run. The table below lists every category, what it includes, and why we need it.
| Category | What we collect | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Your email address; a password, if you choose email sign-in (stored only as a modern salted hash, never in readable form); if you sign in with Apple or Google, the identifier those providers return plus the name and email you allow them to share — we never receive your Apple or Google passwords; your profile details as you enter them (for example, the name shown on your records and exports); your subscription status linked to your account | Create and secure your account; attach your subscription to your account rather than to one phone (see Section 9) |
| Your work content | Log book entries (employment dates, hours, supervisor information as you record it); documents you create — safety forms (JSAs), change orders, load calculations and load reports, and the PDF exports you generate from them; photos you take or attach (for example, a nameplate or part for identification, or photos in your records and backups); notes, project details and other content you type in | Store your records so they follow you between devices and survive a lost phone |
| Consultations and artificial intelligence | The question text and any photos you submit when asking a consultation or identifying a part | Send to an AI service provider to generate your answer |
| Talent network and job postings (if you use them) | The profile you publish — skills, experience, availability, and anything else you choose to include; job posts you publish; reviews you give or receive | Operate the talent network. Material you publish there is visible to other users — see Section 8 |
| Technical and device information | A device identifier and your app version; a device token to deliver push notifications; sign-in events and security logs (when your account was accessed, from what kind of device); crash and error information needed to fix problems you report | Keep your session working; deliver notifications you've enabled; spot and stop unauthorized access and abuse |
| Support and email | Messages you send us through in-app support or email, including your contact details | Respond to you. Delivered through an email service provider |
6. Information We Never Collect
- Your precise location — Zeus never uses GPS or location services.
- Your payment card or banking details — Apple handles payment entirely; we receive only subscription events such as "renewed" or "refunded."
- Your biometrics — if you enable Face ID, the comparison happens entirely on your device under Apple's system; we never receive or store biometric data.
- Your contacts, microphone, health data, or browsing activity.
- Advertising identifiers — Zeus contains no ad networks and no cross-app trackers.
7. How We Use Your Information, and on What Basis
Canadian law requires your consent to collect, use or share personal information, and requires that consent be meaningful — obtained for clear purposes you'd expect. In practice:
- Express consent — a clear "yes" from you — covers creating an account, submitting consultations to the AI service, publishing a talent-network profile, and asking for support.
- Implied consent covers routine operations you'd reasonably expect: keeping you signed in, backing up your records so they survive a lost phone, security logging, and delivering notifications you've enabled.
We use your information only to: operate your account and keep your records available across your devices; confirm and administer your subscription; provide AI consultations you ask for; operate the talent network for material you chose to publish; send service notices (receipts, trial reminders, security alerts); respond to support requests; protect Zeus and its users from fraud and abuse; and meet legal and tax obligations.
We do not use your information for any other purpose without telling you first and, where required, asking again. You may withdraw consent at any time — see Section 12 — understanding that withdrawing it for essential purposes (like storing your account) means the service can no longer be provided.
8. What Is Public by Your Choice
The talent network is different from the rest of Zeus. A profile, job post or review you publish there is visible to other Zeus users. We show only what you enter for that purpose. You can unpublish or edit your profile at any time, and deleting your account removes it. Please don't include information there you wouldn't share with strangers in the trade — once other users have seen it, we can recall it from Zeus but not from their memories or screenshots.
Your log book, forms, reports, photos and consultations are private to you. They are not visible to other users, and our staff can access them only to support you at your request, to investigate a security incident, or to comply with law.
9. Payments and Subscriptions
All purchases — the monthly plan, the annual plan, and the 14-day free trial — are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card number, and Apple never tells us your payment details.
What we do receive is the subscription status for your account: which plan you're on, when it started and ends, whether it renewed, was cancelled, or was refunded, and how many days remain in a trial. Apple reports these events to us through a subscription infrastructure provider (RevenueCat), and we record them so that your paid access follows your Zeus account rather than being stuck to one phone. We keep this billing history for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and to resolve "I paid but I'm locked out" questions.
10. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell personal information — ever. We share it only with the service providers needed to run Zeus, each bound by contract to use it only for us:
| Provider | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Apple (App Store, Apple sign-in, Push Notifications) | Payments, sign-in option, app distribution, notification delivery |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management and reporting |
| Cloudflare | Secure cloud storage for the photos and backups attached to your records |
| An AI service provider | Processes consultation questions and photos to generate answers |
| Resend | Delivers our email to you |
| Squarespace | Runs tradesmasters.ca, where this policy lives (the website is covered by Squarespace's own policies) |
We also share personal information only when the law requires or authorizes it — for example, a valid court order, or a report to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada under Section 11 below. If Apexers is ever sold or merged, account information may transfer to the buyer, but this policy continues to apply until you're notified of changes and given a chance to object or delete your account.
11. How We Protect Your Information
We keep safeguards proportional to the sensitivity of what we hold: encryption in transit everywhere, passwords stored only as hashes, records separated per account, staff access limited to what their role needs, security logging, and the ability to block devices that behave abusively. No system is perfect, but the most sensitive thing we hold — your professional records — is yours alone to see.
If we suffer a breach of security safeguards that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you as soon as possible — with what happened, what information was involved, and what you can do about it — and we will report the breach to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires. If residents of Quebec are affected, we notify Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information as well; other provincial commissioners where required.
12. Your Rights and Choices
You can do all of the following by signing in, or by writing to privacy@tradesmasters.ca:
- See what we hold. Most of it is already in the app — your records, profile, and subscription status. You can also ask us for a copy of everything else we hold about you.
- Correct it. Fix anything inaccurate in the app, or ask us to correct records only we hold.
- Delete your account. Settings → account deletion, or by email. We delete your account information, work content, photos and talent-network profile within 30 days; copies in encrypted backups are purged within 90 days. Billing history is retained only as long as tax law requires, and is not linked to a usable account.
- Withdraw consent. Unsubscribe from emails (every email has an unsubscribe link), turn off notifications in iOS Settings, unpublish your talent-network profile, or stop using consultations — all without losing the rest of your account.
- Complain. Write to our Privacy Officer first — we take every complaint seriously and will investigate and respond in writing within 30 days. You may also go directly to the regulators:
- Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada — priv.gc.ca, 1-800-282-1376
- Commission d'accès à l'information (Quebec) — cai.gouv.qc.ca
- Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta — oipc.ab.ca
- Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia — oipc.bc.ca
Quebec residents: under Law 25 you have the additional rights to request de-indexing or cessation of dissemination of your personal information (for example, a talent-network profile appearing in search results), to be told when your information is communicated outside Quebec (see Section 13), and to receive it in a portable, machine-readable format on request. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request — we'll ask only for what's needed to confirm it's really you.
13. Where Your Information Lives
Your information is stored on our service providers' servers in the United States, and may be processed there or in other countries where our providers operate. While it is outside Canada it remains subject to this policy and to our contracts with those providers, but it may also be subject to the laws of the country where it is located — including lawful access by that country's courts and authorities.
Quebec residents: this Section is the notice Law 25 requires that your personal information may be communicated outside Quebec. We chose providers and storage configurations with strong contractual protections in place, and we reassess them before adding any new provider.
14. How Long We Keep It
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected:
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Account and work content | While your account exists; deleted within 30 days of account deletion (90 days for backup copies) |
| Billing history | As long as required by Canadian tax and accounting law |
| Security and sign-in logs | No longer than 24 months |
| Support correspondence | Up to 24 months after your last exchange with us |
| Talent-network profiles | While published; removed promptly when you unpublish or delete your account |
When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or rendered anonymous.
15. Emails and Notifications
We email you only about things that matter to your account — security notices, receipts and subscription changes, trial reminders, and replies to support requests — under Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) as transactional messages you'd expect from a service you signed up for. We do not send marketing email unless you ask for it, and any email we send includes an unsubscribe. Push notifications are only the ones you allow in iOS Settings, and you can turn them off there at any time.
16. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Zeus app itself uses no cookies and no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. This website (tradesmasters.ca, hosted on Squarespace) uses standard web hosting technologies such as cookies and server logs to function and to measure basic traffic; Squarespace's own privacy policy governs that.
17. How to Submit a Request
To exercise any right described in Section 12 — access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, a complaint, or a Quebec-specific request such as de-indexing or a portable copy:
- In the app — for anything directly under your control (your profile, records, talent-network profile, account deletion), you can act immediately in Zeus without contacting us.
- By email — write to privacy@tradesmasters.ca with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. Include the email address on your Zeus account and enough detail for us to identify what you're asking about.
What happens next:
- We acknowledge your request promptly and may ask you to verify your identity — only what's needed to confirm it's really you, never more.
- We respond in writing within 30 days, at no charge to you.
- If we cannot do what you asked — for example, because keeping certain records is required by tax law — we will explain why, tell you which rule applies, and note your request in our records.
- If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can escalate to the regulators listed in Section 12 at any time.
18. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Zeus evolves. When we make a material change — something that affects what we collect, how we use it, or your rights — we'll tell you before it takes effect: by notice in the app, by email, or by notice on this page, and we'll update the effective date above. Material changes need your consent where the law requires it; continuing to use Zeus after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
