Terms of Use
Terms of Use
Zeus Electrical Code
Effective: September 11, 2026
Our commitment to you
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are the agreement between you and Apexers Inc. when you use Zeus Electrical Code ("Zeus", "the app"). They set out what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, what you're paying for, and what happens if something goes wrong. We've written them in plain language — so you can read them on a job site without a lawyer — while still covering the things a professional tool needs to cover. By creating an account or using Zeus, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. The Agreement and Who We Are
Zeus is operated by Apexers Inc., 1153 Pioneer Rd, Burlington, Ontario, L7M 1K5, Canada ("Apexers", "we", "us", "our"). These Terms govern your use of the Zeus Electrical Code apps for iPhone and Android, the Zeus services that run behind them, and this website.
When you created your account, you confirmed you accept these Terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use Zeus — and if you already have an account, Section 15 explains how to end this agreement.
Questions about these Terms go to the same place as privacy questions: privacy@tradesmasters.ca.
2. Plain-Language Summary
- Zeus is a paid subscription tool for professional electricians. A subscription through the App Store or Google Play is required to use it.
- Your work records — log book, forms, reports, photos — belong to you. We store them for you and delete them when you delete your account.
- Ask AI answers electrical code questions from our verified answer library: entries written from our licensed copy of the Canadian Electrical Code, stamped with the edition your province has adopted, and checked by a second pass before reaching you. Questions and verified answers may be reused to serve other users asking the same thing.
- Answers are information, not professional advice. The authority on any job is the code edition in force there and your local authority having jurisdiction. Always verify before you rely on an answer.
- Don't share your account, resell the service, or try to extract our answer library or app code. It's our livelihood and it's protected.
- Pro Tool Rental and other "coming soon" buttons are placeholders. We're not obligated to launch a feature until we launch it.
- If something goes wrong, our liability is capped — generally at what you paid us in the previous 12 months. Disputes go to individual arbitration, not class actions, where the law allows.
- We can suspend or end accounts that abuse the service or don't pay.
3. Who Can Use Zeus
You must be at least the age of majority in your province or territory to create an account, and the app checks this at sign-up. You may use Zeus only for your own professional work — an individual subscription covers you personally, not your crew, company, or clients as additional users.
You must not use Zeus if you're barred from doing so under applicable law or sanction lists, or if your account was previously terminated for cause.
4. Your Account
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us, for keeping your password confidential, and for everything that happens under your account — including the questions asked and the content created through it. Tell us promptly at privacy@tradesmasters.ca if you believe your account was accessed without your permission.
You can sign in with Apple or Google. If you do, the terms of those providers also apply to the sign-in itself.
One subscription, one person. Sharing an account — including sharing sign-in credentials with a co-worker after yours lapses — is a breach of these Terms and can lead to suspension under Section 15.
5. Subscriptions, Payments and Renewal
Zeus is offered as a monthly plan and an annual plan, with a 14-day free trial for new accounts, as shown in the app and the store listing at the time you subscribe.
- Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) on iPhone and by Google (Google Play) on Android. We never receive your payment card details — only your subscription status, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You cancel through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
- The free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of 14 days unless you cancel before it ends. One trial per person.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us and we'll do what we can, but the store controls the refund.
- Prices may change. If a renewal price is going up, we'll tell you in the app or by email in advance, and you can cancel before the change takes effect.
If you don't pay what you owe — including a chargeback your bank reverses improperly — we may suspend your access until it's resolved.
6. Ask AI and the Answer Library
Ask AI is one of Zeus's headline features, and it works unlike generic chatbots. You should understand how, because it affects what you can expect from it:
- Answers come from our answer library. We maintain a library of verified entries for electrical code questions — each one written from our licensed copy of the Canadian Electrical Code, stating the rule number, when it applies, its exceptions and thresholds, and the edition in force in your province or territory.
- New questions can teach the library. If you ask something the library doesn't cover yet, we use your question (without your photos, name, or account link) to draft a new entry from that licensed reference, and the verified answer is saved. The next person who asks the same thing gets the saved answer.
- A second pass checks every answer before it reaches you.
- Editions matter. Provinces and territories adopt different editions of the code, and some amend rules locally. Answers are stamped with the edition they were written from. Where your jurisdiction's adopted edition is older than the reference used, the answer will say so and tell you what to check.
- The library and its cache are ours. By asking a question, you allow us to keep the question and its verified answer and to serve them to other users asking the same thing — always without your name, account link, or photos. You can ask us to remove your questions from that cache at any time (see our Privacy Policy, Section 12).
Consultations and photo part-identification also send your question text and photos to an AI service provider, as our Privacy Policy describes.
7. Answers Are Information, Not Professional Advice
This section matters, so here it is without hedging:
Zeus — including Ask AI, the answer library, consultations, part identification, and every calculation or report it produces — provides information for licensed professionals. It is not professional, legal, or safety advice, it is not a substitute for the Canadian Electrical Code itself or your local amendments, and it does not replace your own judgment as a qualified tradesperson.
- The authority having jurisdiction over any installation is the inspector or authority that governs it — not Zeus. If Zeus's answer and your inspector disagree, the inspector wins.
- Always verify against the code edition actually in force where you're working, and against any local amendments, before relying on an answer.
- You remain solely responsible for the work you perform, the permits you take out, and the decisions you make on site.
We work hard to make answers accurate — that's what the verification process is for — but we cannot guarantee that any answer is complete, current, or correct for your specific situation, and we don't promise that any particular topic is covered at all.
8. Your Content
Your content — log book entries, forms, reports, photos, notes, and the questions you ask — is yours. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of it to us.
To run the service, you give us a limited licence to store, back up, reproduce, and display your content back to you and to those you choose to share it with; to process it as described in our Privacy Policy (including sending question text and photos to an AI provider to answer you); and to keep your question and its verified answer as described in Section 6. That licence exists to provide Zeus to you — we don't use your private work content for advertising or sell it to anyone, ever.
You promise that the content you submit is yours or that you have the right to use it this way, and that it doesn't break anyone's rights or the law.
9. The Talent Network
The talent network is the part of Zeus where you choose to publish: profiles, job posts, and reviews.
- Material you publish there is visible to other users. Publish only what you're comfortable with strangers in the trade seeing.
- You promise your profile and job posts are accurate and that you have the right to publish what you publish.
- Reviews must be honest and lawful — no fabricated reviews, no defamation, no harassment.
- We can remove or limit published material that breaks these Terms or the law. We don't independently verify profiles, job posts or reviews, and we're not a party to any arrangement, hiring, or contract you make through the network — those dealings are between users, at your own risk.
- Unpublishing or deleting your account removes the material from Zeus, though we can't recall it from other people's memories or screenshots.
10. Acceptable Use
Zeus is a professional tool and we expect professional use. You agree not to:
- Use Zeus for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful, or to harass anyone.
- Share, rent, or resell your account, or use one account to serve multiple people.
- Copy, scrape, harvest, bulk-export, or attempt to reconstruct the answer library, the licensed code reference behind it, or any substantial part of the app's content, or use answers to build a competing product, dataset, or code source.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract Zeus's source code, models, or prompts, except where that's expressly permitted by law and you've told us first.
- Circumvent subscription checks, usage limits, or security measures, or access parts of the service you haven't paid for.
- Interfere with the service — overloading it, probing it for vulnerabilities, or disrupting other users.
- Submit content you don't have the rights to, malware, or anything illegal.
- Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or trade credentials where they matter (for example, on the talent network).
We may investigate suspected violations, including by reviewing activity logs, and act under Section 15.
11. Our Intellectual Property, Including the Answer Library
The Zeus apps, this website, the Zeus name and branding, the software, and the design and content of the service are owned by Apexers Inc. or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws.
The answer library is our own original work, built on our licensed copy of the Canadian Electrical Code. That licence lets us write our own entries from it — rule numbers, requirements, conditions and figures in our own words — and it does not extend to you. You receive answers for your own professional use in Zeus; you may not republish, redistribute, or resell them, or assemble them into a substitute for the code book or any third-party publication. The Canadian Electrical Code itself remains the property of its publisher; nothing in Zeus transfers any rights in it.
We grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Zeus under these Terms for as long as your subscription is in good standing. Everything else is reserved.
12. Third-Party Services
Zeus relies on providers who each handle their piece: Apple and Google (app distribution, sign-in options, payments, notifications), RevenueCat (subscription management), Cloudflare (secure photo and backup storage), an AI service provider (answering and verifying consultations), Resend (our email), and Squarespace (this website). Their own terms apply to their services, and our Privacy Policy lists what each one does with your information.
We're not responsible for the App Store, Google Play, or any third party's own acts or outages — including an app store blocking an update or a payment processor declining a charge.
13. Features Not Yet Launched
Where Zeus shows a feature marked "coming soon" — such as Pro Tool Rental — it's a placeholder. It collects no information and does nothing yet, and we're not obligated to launch it, launch it on any timeline, or launch it with any particular terms. When a feature launches, these Terms and our Privacy Policy are updated first, and that feature is governed by the updated documents.
14. Changes to the Service
We improve Zeus constantly — fixing bugs, adding features, and growing the answer library. We may modify, update, or discontinue parts of the service from time to time. If we discontinue something material — a whole feature you rely on, not a redesign or a button moving — we'll give you reasonable notice in the app or by email. Because the service is offered as a whole through your subscription, changes to individual features aren't grounds for a refund beyond what the store's own policies provide.
15. Ending This Agreement
By you. You can cancel your subscription through the App Store or Google Play at any time, and delete your account in Zeus under Settings → account deletion (or by email). Deleting your account ends this agreement and starts the deletion process described in our Privacy Policy — your records are deleted within 30 days (90 days for backup copies).
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms — including account sharing, abuse of the service, non-payment, or unlawful use — or where the law requires it. Where it's serious enough (for example, attempted extraction of the answer library or fraud), we may terminate immediately. Otherwise we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. On termination for cause, no refund is owed for the current billing period.
Sections that should survive the end of this agreement — ownership, acceptable use, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and dispute resolution — do survive.
16. Disclaimers
Zeus is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We disclaim warranties and conditions that aren't stated in these Terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate; that defects will all be fixed; or that any particular code question will be covered by the answer library.
- Answers, calculations, and reports are informational (see Section 7). You use them at your professional discretion.
Nothing in this section excludes warranties that cannot be excluded under the law of your province — for example, Quebec's Consumer Protection Act or Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 give consumers (including subscribers) rights that no contract can take away. This section applies only to the extent the law permits.
17. Limits on Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost work, lost records you didn't back up as Zeus provides, or costs of substitute services.
- Our total liability for any claim relating to Zeus or these Terms is capped at the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or CAD $100 if you paid us nothing in that period).
- We're not liable for losses caused by your breach of these Terms, by another user's actions, or by events outside our reasonable control (outages at Apple, Google, our providers, or the internet itself).
The limits above don't apply where the law doesn't allow them — to death or bodily injury caused by our negligence, to gross negligence or intentional misconduct, or to any statutory rights that can't be waived in your province. Nothing in these Terms limits liability we can't limit by law.
18. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of the content you submitted or published (other than through the normal use of Zeus's features), your breach of these Terms, or your misuse of the service — you're responsible for it, and you'll cover our resulting costs, damages, and reasonable legal fees. We'll notify you of the claim and let you participate in its defence. This works both ways in spirit: we stand behind the service we run, and you stand behind what you publish and how you use Zeus.
19. Disputes, Arbitration and Governing Law
If you have a problem, tell us first: privacy@tradesmasters.ca. Most problems are solved the same day, and we'd rather fix it than fight about it.
If we can't resolve it, these rules apply to the extent the law of your province permits:
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
- Disputes will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration in Ontario, Canada, not by class action or representative proceeding. You and we each give up the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action to the extent permitted by law.
- Either party can bring a claim in small claims court instead, where it qualifies, and either party can seek urgent injunctive relief from a court to protect its intellectual property.
- Where your province's law does not allow mandatory arbitration or these dispute rules for a claim like yours, that law wins and the dispute proceeds in the courts of your province.
We'll pay the arbitration fees for claims under CAD $5,000 that we don't prevail on, so that arbitration isn't a barrier for a subscriber with a small claim.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Zeus evolves. If a change is material — it affects your rights, your obligations, or what your subscription covers — we'll tell you before it takes effect, in the app, by email, or on this page, and update the effective date above. Continuing to use Zeus after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't accept them, you can cancel before they take effect. This version was updated on September 11, 2026 to cover the verified answer library, the shared answer cache, features not yet launched, and the Zeus app on Android.
